A drug trafficking investigation by RCMP last month led to the arrests of five people, with guns, drugs, phones and trafficking paraphernalia seized at different locations.

Investigators gathered evidence in three separate investigations across the city, said Cpl. Mike Rail, spokesperson for UFVRD.

“Chilliwack RCMP remain dedicated to our commitment to preventing illegal drugs from reaching the streets of our community,” said Cpl. Rail.

A 30-year-old Chilliwack man was arrested during a traffic stop on Feb. 12, which was just before a search warrant was executed on an apartment on McIntosh Drive the same evening. The suspect was later released.

Illegal drugs alleged to be crack cocaine, cocaine, shatter, and cannabis resin, cash, as well as cell phones and a vehicle were seized during the arrest of the suspect, while what is believed to be crack cocaine, cannabis resin, paraphernalia, and an SKS assault rifle were seized during the execution of the search warrant.

Evidence collected during a second investigation on Feb. 22 took officers to Gore Avenue where another search went down. Three were arrested during the execution of that search warrant, with two of the three remaining in custody while the third was released.

Significant amounts of packaged cocaine, fentanyl, meth, and paraphernalia together with guns, personal and credit card information, computers, and bicycles linked to stolen property from across the Eastern Fraser Valley were seized during the search.

The month closed with the execution of a Cannabis Act search warrant by CRU officers at a residence on Bridal Ridge Crescent. One person at the scene was arrested and later released. Officers seized 476 marihuana plants and equipment used to cultivate during the search.
