Terrace RCMP made a significant drug bust after arresting an impaired driver the night of Friday, July 17.
Around 11 p.m., an officer on Lakelse Ave. in Terrace was approached by a member of the public who said they saw a vehicle driving dangerously toward Thornhill, according to a Terrace RCMP press release.
RCMP tracked down a vehicle matching the description in Thornhill and pulled it over after seeing several driving offences. They found a prohibited weapon and conducted a roadside sobriety test, which the driver failed.
“More weapons, drugs, and a large amount of cash were located by police inside the vehicle, all of which were seized,” the press release states.
An RCMP handout photo of the seizure shows brass knuckles, a knife, and what appears to be bear spray along with thousands of dollars in cash and six different baggies of what appear to be drugs ranging in colour from blue to purple to white.
“The driver received a driving suspension and traffic violation tickets. The investigation surrounding the drugs, weapons, and money is ongoing,” the press release states.
