Traffic on Duncan Ave E will be reduced to single lane, alternating traffic today.

The City of Penticton issued a release stating there was a water main break on the street this morning and water will be shut off between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. to facilitate the repair.

“We got a crack in the 6-inch cast iron water main up in the Duncan area near Columbia,” said John Fenske, works superintendent for the city. “The crews are on-site right now excavating for the repair.”

According to Fenske, the pipe ruptured at about 1:30 a.m. and the cause is undetermined.
