An abandoned house burned to the ground south of Duncan early Wednesday morning.
The house next to The Brick along the Trans-Canada Highway was fully engulfed in flames when volunteer firefighters arrived just after 3 a.m.
“We just stood on the outside and put water on it,” Duncan fire chief Mike McKinlay reported. “She was burning pretty good by the time we got there.”
Crews, including three firetrucks, were on the scene for about an hour and a half. The investigation is now in the hands of the RCMP.
Duncan firefighters were also on the scene late Monday night after a chimney fire spread into the walls of a home in Eagle Heights. Crews had to pull the walls apart to access the flames, and were at the house for about two hours.
