Tourism Wells Gray has contributed funding to allow the Wells Gray Information Centre in Clearwater to open two weeks earlier.

Beginning April 17, the Information Centre will be staffed seven days a week and six hours a day to provide visitor services

The Information Centre will resume regular operation on May 1.

“Having visitor services available in April supports Tourism Wells Gray’s goal of increasing shoulder season visitation,” said Stephanie Molina, Tourism Wells Gray’s marketing manager. “With the steady year on year growth in tourism and more visitors appearing in Clearwater earlier in the year, it has become increasingly apparent that there is a demand for visitor services in April.”

She added that many tourism businesses in the community have commented on this gap in services and Tourism Wells Gray and Information Wells Gray are pleased to have found a practical solution of working together to address this issue.

Tourism Wells Gray is an association that represents all the tourism businesses in Clearwater and Wells Gray Country (Area A). It is primarily funded through a hotel tax on local hotels, motels and bed-and-breakfasts.

Information Wells Gray is a consortium of local small businesses that operates the Wells Gray Information Centre.
