Educo Adventure School being trashed

Vandals trashing Educo Adventure School campsite lodge

During the off-season for Educo, vandals have trashed the cabins and even vehicles, says Educo Adventure School board member Dave MacLeod.

“This is the third incident in the past year. It was trashed twice last winter, once to the cabins and once to the vehicles.

“They were out here recently and trashed the cabins again; it’s just malicious.”

He adds there is nothing of value at the site.

The local RCMP is aware of the break-ins, says MacLeod, and has said there were also other break-ins in the area, which are likely related.

The cabins were broken into, windows smashed, and buckets of millet and rice tossed around. The vandals are obviously on snowmobiles; you can’t really hide the tracks, says MacLeod.

“We’ve decided to fix the place ourselves. This is supposed to be a fun, positive place for kids; everyone is pretty upset about it.”

The Educo board has decided to purchase cameras and will be hiding them in trees, buildings and anywhere they can, says MacLeod, who admits they may get a lot of pictures of moose, but the board wants to get the message out there that vandals will be on camera.

I hope that if any one knows about this latest break-in, they call the 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456, or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
