École Isabella Dicken Elementary School (EIDES) is extending a big thank you to the community of Fernie for donations made to their Holiday Hampers and Breakfast Club programs.
“Our December school goal was connecting to community, however we were overwhelmed with the generosity of our community connecting with us,” said principal of EIDES, Laura-Lee Phillips.
“Your compassion at this time of year touched so many families.”
The elementary school’s Holiday Hampers have since been distributed to 15 families currently in need of extra support.
Among those who helped fundraise for the Breakfast club program was Fernie’s Northern Bar and Stage, who collected donations via their Charity Tap, and a further $1,000 donation was made through the Earl family.
Donations were also received from local Renee Osborne, who fund-raised for the cause via selfies with a giant inflatable Santa Claus erected on her lawn over the holidays.
