Some of them you’ve heard of before, others, maybe not so much.
But they’re running for office in this fall’s election and have filed their nomination papers already.
As of Tuesday, Martin Rooney, a local human rights advocate, has put his name in for council.
Jim McMurtry, a Surrey school teacher who has run for council before, is coming back for another attempt.
Surrey businessman, Vikram Bajwa had filed his nomination for mayor.
Safe Surrey, headed by mayoral candidate Doug McCallum was expected to file their papers on Tuesday afternoon.
He was joined by council candidates Surrey Now newspaper editor Beau Simpson, lawyer Justin Thind, business owner Rina Gill and community advocate Laurie Guerra.
The nomination period ends at 4 p.m. on Oct. 10.
The elections registrar is urging people not to save it until the last minute and call 604-591-4213 to schedule an appointment for filing.
