Election 2014: Candidates converge at forum

City of Vernon: Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Home Builders Association host an evening with the candidates Nov. 4 at Predator Ridge

Another opportunity has arisen to hear from the candidates running for Vernon city hall.

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Home Builders Association will host an evening with the candidates Nov. 4 at Predator Ridge Resort.

“The event will include a social and dinner with all candidates running for council for the city of Vernon,” said Dan Rogers, chamber executive director.

“Members and future members of both the chamber and home builders association can attend but must register in advance through the chamber office.”

The event begins with a mix and mingle with the candidates at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:15 p.m. and the forum at 7:30 p.m.

“Depending on space availability, members of the public can drop by at 7:30 p.m. at no cost to hear the mayoralty forum,” said Rogers.

The first all-candidates forum will be for Downtown Vernon Association members Monday  at 7 a.m. at the Century 21 boardroom, 2901 32nd St. Confirm your attendance for the forum at 250-542-5851.

On Thursday, the Sustainable Environment Network Society will hold an environmental sustainability all-candidates forum at 7 at the Schubert Centre.

And at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre, there will be a forum for Vernon council candidates Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and for Coldstream candidates Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce will host two all-candidates forums at Armstrong’s Centennial Hall. The candidates vying for council in Armstrong will be at a forum Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m., while those vying for mayor and council in Spallumcheen will gather Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
