Former Township councillor Bev Dornan has announced she will be running in the municipal election on Oct. 20.
Dornan served as Township councillor for two terms, but lost her seat in the last election in 2014. She is a lifetime Langley resident and a long time manager of Otter Co-op in Aldergrove, where she has worked for 53 years.
“I’m passionate about working with the council and working for the betterment of Langley, making it the place to work, live and play,” Dornan said.
“Because I’ve been here my whole life, I’ve seen Langley go from a very small downtown street to the community that it is, and I think I can give insight into all the changes moving forward.”
If elected, Dornan said she will work with all community partners on the issues that effect Langley.
“Whether it’s our safety and security, or our transportation, or our community partners when we’re dealing with the seniors or the people who are vulnerable — it’s all about collaboration,” she said. “And I think I possess the skills to work with all of these partners and I have some experience as being a past council member to work with all of the people who are going to be on council. And I look forward to that.”
Dornan has also been involved in the community with the Rotary Club of Aldergrove, the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce (past president) and Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation (past chair). She currently serves on the board of Langley Community Services and the Aldergrove Credit Union.
Dornan has two sons, James and Chris, and four grandchildren.
