A wildfire burning at Eleven Mile Creek continues to increase in size.
A tweet sent out Wednesday night by the B.C. Wildfire Service pegged the blaze at 50 hectares, up from 35 hectares on Tuesday and 20 when it was first discovered Sunday.
The provincial government’s B.C. Wildfire Dashboard continues to list the fire as out of control, and the tweet indicated that steep and rugged terrain is making it hard for firefighters to get a lid on it. Eleven Mile Creek is accessed by a forest service road and is a hiking and all-terrain vehicle destination located about halfway between Hope and the Sunshine Valley.
UPDATE: The Eleven Mile Creek Wildfire (V10859), located 13 km SE of #Hope, is approx. 50 ha. The fire is burning away from #BCHwy3 in steep, rugged terrain but is highly visible. 61 #BCWildfire personnel, 4 helicopters & 1 water tender are assigned. Going east on Highway 3, the fire is visible 13 kilometres southeast of Hope, and according to the tweet, the fire is moving away from from Highway 3.
Sixty one B.C. Wildfire personnel are assigned to the blaze along with four helicopters and one water tender.
No structures are threatened.
