Canada’s first Green Member of Parliament officially opened her new constituency office in Sidney on June 30.
The office itself is a model of thinking green, with eco-friendly paint and carpet, recycling and composting facilities, and is accessibile by public transit.
“We felt it was important to walk the talk and are very proud of our new office,” said Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP for Saanich-Gulf Islands.
May’s office will also purchase carbon offsets for power consumption and for her travel within the riding.
“I have been working hard for my constituents from the very moment I was elected on May 2 and I hope now that the new office will allow more face to face contact. As Saanich Gulf Islands’ elected representative, I welcome all to drop by and let me know if there is any way I can be of service,” said May.
The new office is located at 9711 Fourth St. in Sidney and can be reached by phone at 250-657-2000 or by fax at 250-657-2004.
A new constituency website will be online soon: elizabethmaymp.ca.
