Businesses in Elkford were honoured for their excellence during the Elkford Chamber of Commerce annual business awards last week.
Over 120 people attended the awards banquet which was hosted at the Community Centre.
The winners were chosen by method of public vote. Nomination ballets were released to the public in August, 2019, and eighty-nine total nominations were submitted.
The Elkford Drug Store was named Business of the Year, for the third year in a row.
Elkford Chamber of Commerce executive director Shawna Bryant explained that Ahmed Elmaddah moved to Elkford eight years ago and started up the drug store. Since then the popularity of the business with locals has grown tremendously.
“They’re an amazing team with amazing customer service, they had a huge outpouring of support from local residents. And, amazing comments that came in on the nominations about how great customer service they have, how strong of a store they are,” she said.
The Elkford Drug Store also won top spot for Customer Service of the Year.
Industrial Business of the Year went to Bears Paw Contracting, the Elkford Arts Council was named Non Profit of the Year, and Annette Sheppard was named Volunteer of the Year.
Ian Benson donated $1000 to Volunteer of the Year, which will be managed by the Elkford Chamber of Commerce for 2020.
Many local businesses donated to the event to help support the semi-formal evening of celebrations.
