Police and View Royal Fire Rescue are assisting the B.C. Coroners Service at Thetis Lake Regional Park for a suspected suicide.

The West Shore RCMP was notified of a gun shot at the dog beach just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
There is no foul play or crime suspected and the West Shore RCMP believes the man was alone at the time. Police reiterated there is no danger to the public.

The dog beach at the lower end of Thetis Lake was closed for several hours as the B.C. Coroners Service conducts its investigation and the body was recovered. The public was asked to avoid the area, however, the main beach was still open. Thetis Lake Regional Park fully reopened to the public at roughly 3 p.m.
