Enderby Cliff Avenue project on track

A major project is almost complete in Enderby.

Paving on the refurbished Cliff Avenue was done last week while concrete was poured.

“The concrete needs to cure for about seven days so that puts us at Wednesday or Thursday for the road to be open,” said Tate Bengtson, chief administrative officer.

Landscaping is now underway, including the planting of trees.

“We will be opening up fairly quickly and if all goes well, we will have the Canada Day parade on Cliff,” said Bengtson.

Work started April 4 and it included replacing uneven sidewalks, aging road gutters and unhealthy trees.

A new plaza and seating have gone in while water and storm mains have been installed.

The $1.8 million project has stayed within budget.

“We haven’t found any surprises so everything should be where it is,” said Bengtson.

Access to businesses has been a challenge during construction, but Bengtson is confident that will pick up as the road reopens.

“We want everyone to come down and shop local,” he said.
