A chunk of cash has helped the Enderby Preschool essentially reach its fundraising goal.
On Tuesday, Farm Credit Canada, a national lending agency, announced a $10,000 donation for the preschool for equipment.
“I couldn’t be happier. It’s a huge relief,” said Cheryl Heidt, manager of care.
The preschool is currently expanding its operations, with a tentative completion date of Oct. 2.
“Equipment is so important we can open our doors and be licensed,” said Heidt.
The total cost of the expansion is $625,00.
“We’re on the home stretch because we’ve had some amazing donations,” said Heidt.
Besides Farm Credit Canada, there has been support from local businesses and organizations, while $11,000 was raised during a silent auction at the Enderbeer and Wine Festival. Some suppliers have also donated or reduced prices for building materials,
Currently, the preschool has 23 after-school spaces and two prechool spaces of 20 children each, but the expansion will allow for 32 additional spaces of multi-age children and ages three to five.
Farm Credit Canada is giving $1.5 million to 78 community groups across Canada to support rural capital projects.
“The FCC AgriSpirit Fund is an investment in rural Canada,” said Sophie Perreault, FCC executive vice-president.
