An infrastructure project could allow Enderby to develop in the future.
On Tuesday, city council awarded a $2.7 million contract to Mountain Side Earthworks for upgrades to Salmon Arm Drive.
“It’s a major project,” said Mayor Greg McCune.
“On top of the improvements to the road itself, water and sewer needs to be upgraded if the community can entertain development.”
According to McCune, Salmon Arm Drive is one of the few remaining areas in Enderby that can accommodate future residential growth.
A significant issue that will be addressed during construction is drainage.
“We want to provide storm sewer so we can prevent runoff,” said McCune.
Mountain Side Earthworks was the lowest bidder among seven companies.
It’s anticipated that construction could begin this fall although an exact date has not been determined.
