What would you buy if you won over $2,000? Some lucky Boundary resident will get the opportunity to win $2,016 to spend on a local shopping spree. The recipient will have a total of 2,016 seconds (33.6 minutes) to spend their winnings at several participating Grand Forks merchants.
To enter the contest, just shop at participating local businesses (see ad on page 9). Every time you spend over $10, you will receive an entry form for the contest.
Grand Forks publisher Chuck Bennett said the contest always generates a lot of excitement in the community. “This is a great program that focusses on the importance of shopping locally and supporting our local community,” he said. “I’m always amazed by the level of interest and engagement that this contest generates. It is exciting to watch and I think it is great for the entire community.”
A reverse draw will take place in January at the Gazette office. Each semi-finalist will receive a prize from the business at which their name was drawn; the final name drawn walks away with $2,016. The contest is only open to residents of the Boundary.
Shortly after the draw, the winner will head around to participating businesses and pick out anything he or she wants accompanied by the photographer and sales representative from the Gazette.
“This contest wouldn’t happen without the support of the City of Grand Forks, the Grand Forks Credit Union and the Boundary Country Regional Chamber of Commerce,” added Bennett. “It is just another way these organizations go out of their way to support the business community.”
