Errington scrap wood fire still under investigation

Three fire departments deployed to battle highly visible blaze

The cause of a scrap wood fire that broke out at an industrial facility in Errington is stilll under investigation.

The fire that happened at a wood pile at the DBL Landscape Supply located on Church Rd. in the early morning of Aug. 13. It was contained through the collaborative efforts of the Errington Volunteer Fire Department, Parksville Fire Department and the Coombs-Hilliers Fire Department.

It started at 5 a.m. and took all day to deal with lingering hotspots.

The fire sent thick clouds of white smoke into the skies above the area and could be seen for kilometres around.

DBL Supply would not comment about the fire when contacted by The NEWS.
