An evacuation order has been issued for six properties in the Whitton Lake area in the West Chilcotin Wednesday.
Due to immediate danger, members of the RCMP or other groups will be expediting the order by helicopter, the Cariboo Regional District noted.
Tim Conrad, a public information officer with the CRD said Wednesday there are cabins and vacation properties in the area that are impacted.
“We do know there are some people there,” Conrad said. “The RCMP touched base with them yesterday and are going back there to encourage them to evacuate.”
The closest fire in that area is the Wilderness Lake Fire.
Conrad encouraged residents to heed evacuation orders.
“It means their safety is in peril and they really need to pay attention to those evacuation orders.”
The CRD is asking evacuees to register at the ESS Reception Centre at 640 Carson Drive in Williams Lake.
Please note, if you have a primary residence outside of the evacuation order, you will not be eligible for Emergency Support Services (ESS).

On Monday evening an evacuation order for 14 properties in the Klinaklini Lake area went into effect which is just south of the Whitton Lake area.

Under an evacuation order residents must:
You must leave the area immediately.
Close all windows and doors.
Do not shut off your natural gas if you receive an evacuation order. For more information visit www.fortisbc.com.
Close gates (latch) but do not lock.
Gather your family: take a neighbour or someone who needs help.
Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.
Do not use more vehicles then you have to.
Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.
