Road delays related to work on one of the town’s sewage lift stations, Wednesday, March 23, was only the tip of the iceberg for road delays in the coming weeks.
“There will be more delays related and unrelated to the project,” the town’s superintendent of Public Works Nagi Rizk wrote, in an e-mail to the Gazette.
“BC Hydro still will have to make the overhead connection to the new pole on the north side of the road.”
The white markings on South Shore Road are evidence of road work scheduled to take place this week, weather permitting.
On the lift station’s ongoing upgrades, Rizk said that, although the project was initially projected to be under-budget, this may no longer be the case.
“Considering the inclement weather we had the last couple of weeks we will be fortunate to be on budget. We will have a better idea in a week or two,” he wrote.
The lift station project has been budgeted at $234,229, and benefits from a $153,466 grant from the Provincial and Federal Governments.
Work is tentatively scheduled for completion by the first week of May.
