Peter Hall, Vice President and Chief Economist with Export Development Canada(EDC) is one of four keynote speakers to present at the 13th annual State of the Island Economic Summit in Nanaimo this October.
With over 25 years of experience in economic analysis and forecasting, Peter Hall joined EDCin 2004, where he oversees EDC’s economic analysis, country risk assessment, and corporate research groups. With Vancouver Island now on the map for international trade and export with its new Foreign Trade Zone designation, Hall’s presentation at the Summit will focus on global trade and emerging prospects for Vancouver Island exports.
The 2019 State of the Island Economic Summit will be at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo on October23rd & 24th. The Summit is an annual gathering of business, community,first nations, and government leaders sharing ideas, asking questions, learning about new initiatives, and exploring opportunities.
Featuring a number of sessions on topics currently trending in both the global economy and Vancouver Island’s local economy, The Summit will also focus on some of The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance’s core initiatives, such as Island Good. Launched two years ago at the Summit, the Island Good campaign helps shoppers identify locally sourced food products. After a successful trial period, Island Good is now available to be used by licensees at point of sale, in product packaging and on all promotional and advertising vehicles (signage, websites, social media, etc.). This year, all beverages and meals served at the Summit will be ‘Island Good’.
The Summit will feature the release of the one-of-a-kind State of the Island Economic Report. Tise report is an annual reading of the condition of Vancouver Island’s economy and the key issues, trends and events that shape the way we live, work, and do business. All Summit delegates receive a copy of the 2019 report.
