A 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, used by the Windermere and Fairmont fire departments, is out of service after its engine seized.
The vehicle isn’t worth the cost of repairs, so the RDEK is considering purchasing a replacement.
Replacement of the vehicle had been budgeted to take place in 2013. A new bylaw amendment was brought forward during the Electoral Area Directors meeting on July 7 to amend the five-year financial plan to re-allocate $34,000 to the Fairmont Fire Department to replace the vehicle ahead of schedule.
