Falkland is getting ready to celebrate a Canadian icon.
On Tuesday, businesses in the community will be handing out Canadian flag pins and decals to celebrate the flag’s birthday.
“The flag was first raised at the Parliament buildings in 1965 after several decades to reach an agreement for a design for a distinct Canadian flag,” said Fran Nikon, with I Care, which promotes patriotism.
“That’s what we have — a flag that is a symbol of our country and our heritage. Fly it with pride.”
