Families clean up Mission

Adopt-A-Block Society organize Family Day event

More than 60 families participated in Adopt-A Block Society‘s Family Day litter pick up and Junior Bug Club Scavenger Hunt.

Each family was given three locations around town and asked to find three to five pieces of litter in each area. Fifteen gold coins were also hidden and those who found them and turned them in received prizes. The Pennier family won the grand prize, a basket of treats from Save On Foods.

Participants also competed in collecting the most litter in the areas they were assigned.

“…our winner for this challenge was Cameron Keenan,” said Kristin Parsons, executive director of Mission Adopt-A-Block Society. “This little guy went above and beyond, filling his mom’s jeep with many bags of litter, even venturing out to other areas of town that needed some clean up.”

It took an hour for most families to complete the hunt, but many spent extra time in their areas.

“This was a great chance for families to learn about the amazing parks, creeks, trails, and amenities that Mission has to offer and help tidy them up as a family, creating a sense of civic pride,” added Parsons.
