Fernie Alpine Resort’s (FAR) 2020 Summer Community Appreciation Program kicked off this week, with a variety of special offers for locals.
Divided in two, the first round of promotions were extended from July 20 until July 23, with another round of discounts following from July 27 until July 30.
Open to all residents of the Elk Valley, the event provided free scenic chair lift rides to locals wanting to take in Fernie’s breathtaking views from the top of the Elk Chair. With mountain biking season in full swing, complementary single ride lift tickets were also given to those keen to pedal, as well as discounts on bike rentals, full and three lap lift tickets, and meals at Legends Mountain Eatery.
“I don’t have a summer seasons pass, so it’s really great being given the chance to come up here and better my downhill riding on FAR’s trails,” said Fernie local, Jessica Eberts. “Getting to ride the ski hill in both the summer and winter is one of the reasons why my friends and I love Fernie so much.”
Matt Mosteller, senior vice president of marketing and resort experience, highlighted the importance of giving residents unable to regularly experience what the resort has to offer, the opportunity to participate in activities and meet the team of hardworking employees.
“Community is everything for us,” said Mosteller. “We are grateful to be living in such an incredible place filled with amazingly talented, passionate and caring people. Connectedness is vital for us and we are thankful for everyone who plays outside with us. Thank you Elk Valley! Fernie, Elkford, Sparwood, Jaffray, Elko, as we are fortunate to have team members in each of the these communities, we hope those that can make it up to the mountain come up to experience the adventures we offer.”
