Update: the highway re-opened approximately 10 p.m. Monday night, according to DriveBC.
A fatal head-on collision shut down the Bombi Pass between Castlegar and Salmo Monday afternoon.
Police and emergency crews responded to a two-car motor vehicle incident at about 3:20 on Monday afternoon.
Police have confirmed two fatalities at this time.
The highway remained closed in both directions as West Kootenay Traffic Services, South East District Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners’ Service investigated this collision.
Police continue their investigation.
