Parksville mayor Ed Mayne has proclaimed Feb. 18-24 as “Heritage Week” in the City of Parksville.

According to a news release from the city, Heritage Week is held to recognize the importance of protecting and conserving Parksville’s rich and diverse heritage.

“Heritage serves as the foundation of B.C. communities, both celebrating the past and embracing the future by encouraging economic activity, job creation, and tourism,” states the release.

The theme of Heritage Week 2019 is “Heritage: The Tie That Binds,” which recognizes how heritage connects citizens through shared values and helps create an enduring sense of pride and social wellbeing in B.C. communities.

More information about Heritage Week can be found on the Heritage BC website at www.heritagebc.ca.
