Too close for comfort

Three drivers en route to work were delayed on Feb. 15.

At 8:45 a.m. on Burrard Avenue by the railway crossing, a van that was following close to the traffic did not stop in time and hit an SUV, which in turn was pushed into a preceding SUV.

With two events happening in the same area recently — a van running through a red light on Burrard Avenue ended up in storefronts — the police reminds people to slow down, take it easy, give themselves more time to get to where they are going, and pay attention.

Drivers and vehicles suffered minor injuries and damage.

Stop means stop

Three reports of vehicles passing unloading school buses were called into the police detachment last week.

Most were passing from behind the buses that were flashing stop lights and stopping to unload students.

The police reminds drivers that when school buses have stop signs out and lights on, vehicles on both sides of traffic are required to stop and wait.

Passersby who witness incidents can report with descriptions of the offending vehicle and driver.
