The Abbotsford News asked candidates in the federal riding of Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon three questions (each with a 100-word limit). The same questions have been provided to candidates in the Abbotsford riding. These will be published in the Sept. 9th edition and posted at abbynews.com afterwards. For candidates in the Langley-Aldergrove riding (of which Abbotsford is a part), visit langleyadvancetimes.com

1. Why are you running to be a Member of Parliament?

I’m running to be a Member of Parliament because I want to see some real change in our government and our country. I decided I can complain all I want but if I want my kids to experience Canada the way I did growing up, then someone needs to do something.

2. What skills and attributes do you have that would make you a good elected representative for your constituents?

As a hard-working, successful, small-business owner I know how to meet deadlines, exceed customer expectations and deliver on promises. These are some of attributes and skills that I think make me a good candidate choice.

3. What are the two biggest issues for your constituents in Abbotsford and how will you and/or your party address them?

Health care and free speech are two big issues we face. If elected, we propose to give provinces full control of the GST they collect, allowing them to have the same health-care funding but giving them more control over how it’s spent so they can fill the individual gaps in their regions. To protect free speech, we intend to hold major corporations that are cracking down on free speech like Facebook accountable, and we will fight to keep bills like C10 out of our House of Commons and Senate.
