A federal parolee is back behind bars hours after breaking into a Mission residence.
At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (June 22) Mission RCMP responded to a call of a break and enter which had recently occurred.
A lone male suspect had broken into a residence on Sandpiper Place. The residence was occupied by a woman and her granddaughter at the time.
The suspect fled from the residence, apparently after realizing it was occupied.
At about 2 p.m. the same day, a Mission RCMP officer involved in a separate investigation observed a man on Martin Avenue who matched the description of the suspect from the break and enter.
It was confirmed that the man was the suspect and he was arrested.
The suspect, 51-year-old Grant Babcock has been charged with break and enter. Babcock is well known to police and was on federal parole at the time of this incident.
He remains in custody.
