The City of Fernie needs your vote to be named one of the great places in Canada.
Fernie has been nominated in the Great Neighbourhoods category in the second annual Great Places in Canada contest.
There are 68 nominations so far in the contest, that includes categories for great streets and public places as well as neighbourhoods. Nearly 20,000 people have voted.
Fernie currently has received 96 votes, and people can vote up until February 29.
The judges will then decide on the semi-finalists in early April and announce the winners at the end of April. People’s Choice awards will also be made in each of the three categories.
“We have great competition from across the country and a lot of strong contenders,” said Andrea Gabor, President of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
“We have candidates from places like Fernie, Lake Koocanusa, Creighton, Warkworth, Lac-Saint-Jean, and Dayspring, and some of them are beating the pants off the larger centres for the honour of being named one of Canada’s greatest places.”
