A mountain biker has been rescued after injuring himself in Fernie’s Ridgemont trails area.

About 10 a.m. Monday, Fernie Search and Rescue was tasked by BC Ambulance to assist the 62-year-old man, who took a fall while descending Eric’s Trail, fracturing his ankle.

Paramedics were able to reach the biker on foot and stablize his injury, while they waited for Fernie SAR to arrive with a wheeled stretcher.

Once the man was secured on the stretcher, he was taken down the trail to a waiting ambulance.
