Megan Olsen has received an unexpected financial assist in her efforts to clean up the big pile of trash at the foot of Little Mountain.
The Errington resident said this week she was contacted by an area resident after the story appeared in The NEWS, who offered to write a cheque for $750 to go towards the cost of a cleanup.
The money, she was told, was collected when a film crew made a movie, entitled Wrecked, at the site three years ago. Although they did some cleanup, Olsen said, the crew was able to shoot around the mountain of trash.
However, the actors and others working on the project weren’t happy with what they found at the site.
“The film crew thought the site was beautiful but they were disgusted with what people had done with the dumping,” Olsen said. “The crew put some funds together to help with any future cleanup. It’s not a huge amount but it can be regarded as seed money.”
The neighbor who passed on the funds requested to remain anonymous.
