Colwood Fire Rescue responded to a fire that originated inside the bedroom of a home on Colwood Crescent – off Sooke Road near Colwood Corners – at around 3:30 a.m. this morning.

All three occupants of the home were able to exit the house before crews arrived and the fire was contained quickly contained to the bedroom.

“The fire was content only so it didn’t get into the walls or the roof,” noted Chief John Cassidy. “Quick action by first-in crews extinguished the fire really quickly and then it was just evacuating the smoke that had filtered through to the rest of the house.”

Two of the occupants were looked at by medical personnel for possible smoke inhalation but both were cleared and neither were transported to hospital.

Crews from View Royal were also on scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Cassidy said that it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
