Fire department attends grass fire along train tracks Monday night

On Monday evening, the Williams Lake Fire Department (WLFD) attended a grass fire in the Soda Creek Road area beyond the mills.

“It is believed it was started by a train,” WLFD Fire Chief Erick Peterson confirmed.

The fire was quickly extinguished shortly after the report came in at 10:30 p.m.

Tuesday morning the Comer area fire was identified as a new, 0.01 hectare fire BC Wildfire Service interactive map.

While the fire was noted on the map, it has been put out.
