Fire destroyed a large log home at the top of Sumas Mountain early Saturday morning.
Crews from Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service were called to the home on Taggart Road at about 12:30 a.m. When they arrived, the residence was fully engulfed in flames.
Assistant Fire Chief Dave Rivett said the blaze was difficult to fight because there was no water in the area and it had to be shuttled in with water tankers.
Although crews quickly brought the fire under control, they were expected to be on site for several hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
