A fire near Fraser Lake has destroyed a trailer home, but caused no serious injuries.

The fire broke out just after 11 a.m. on Dec. 6 in the Overlander Trailer Court, on the outskirts of Fraser Lake, local fire chief Joe Pacheco told Lakes District News.

The family who were occupying the trailer managed to get out.

Two were being treated for respiratory problems, and the family will receive 72 hours of care by the Emergency Social Services.

Firefighters from the nearby Stellat’en First Nation – near the community of Stellako – first arrived on the scene, and were joined by firefighters from Fraser Lake.

“Thank goodness for Stellako because they brought a truck and it could’ve been a lot worse,” said Pacheco, referring to the 500-gallon fire engine used by Stellat’en members.

Firefighting efforts prevented damage to other trailers in the park, but the trailer where the fire started burned to the ground.

The cause of the blaze, and the resulting financial losses were not yet known pending an investigation.
