No injuries have been reported after a fire broke out at an apartment building in West Quesnel Sunday afternoon (April 8).

Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department recieved the call to fight the blaze at 1241 Lark Ave. just after 4 p.m.

Three fire engines and 23 members of the department responded.

Fire Chief Sylvain Gauthier says when they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming out of unit 106 on the ground floor.

The fire was contained to the apartment, and the rest of the building suffered minor smoke damage.

Although no humans were injured, two of the occupant’s pets perished.

Gauthier confirms that the fire started in the apartment’s living room but says they are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
