An April 20 fire in a townhouse complex at 379 Wale Rd. that was initially deemed suspicious continues to be investigated.
Personnel and equipment from the Colwood and View Royal fire departments responded to a report of flames visible in two windows of the complex at about 5 p.m. on April 20, said Colwood Fire Rescue Assistant Chief John Cassidy.
An occupant of one of the upper units had exited a suite and was lying on the first floor roof when firefighters arrived. Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze with a single line fairly quickly and tried to assist the man. “He chose to jump to the ground,” Cassidy said. “He was treated at the scene and sent to hospital for treatment of minor burns.”
The fire appears to be suspicious at this time and is under investigation by the West Shore RCMP and Colwood Fire Rescue, Cassidy noted.
