Fire-Rescue members acknowledged at dinner

Firefighters and their spouses appreciated for dedication and support

The annual 100 Mile House Fire-Rescue Firefighter Appreciation Dinner was held on Feb. 13, and it was a great success.

Fire chief Roger Hollander said the event was well attended and various awards and medals were handed out.

He adds Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett and District of 100 Mile House Mayor Mitch Campsall attended, and both spoke to firefighters.

Campsall told the Feb. 23 council meeting he was extremely pleased to talk the fire department members.

The mayor said he expressed the appreciation of council and the District residents for the selfless dedication the paid, on-call firefighters provide to the community.

“If you see firefighters on the street, thank them for their work. Thank them for what they do for us because the 300 or so calls they respond to each year that takes them away from their jobs and away from their families at anytime of the day or night.”

Hollander said the Firefighter Appreciation Dinner was a night not only to appreciate the firefighters who attended 322 calls in 2015, but also to appreciate and thank the spouses for their support over the years.

“Our firefighters work extremely hard at training and responding to emergencies 24 hours a day 365 days a year and they deserved to be recognized for their efforts.”
