It didn’t take long for firefighters to extinguish the second fire to burn on Mount Boucherie in less than a month.
West Kelowna Fire Rescue crews were called around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday as a resident noticed the blaze on the mountain above Pinot Noir Drive.
According to Fire Chief Wayne Schnitzler, 16 firefighters responded to the fire and were able to knock down the flames within a couple of hours.
“It burned its way deep into the ground, so there was a lot of mop up to do (Wednesday),” said Schnitzler.
At its peak, the fire was approximately 100 by 200 feet.
The West Kelowna fire chief said the fire was human-caused.
An investigator was on scene Wednesday trying to determine specifically how the blaze started.
