The tough task of sorting all the food fell to the team at the Food Bank.

While the food collected during this year’s Kitimat BC Thanksgiving Food Drive was less than that was collected in 2017, the food will still fill a lot of empty grocery cupboards over the holiday.

“While the results were a little down on last year, they were in no way poor. Despite the fact that there are a lot of empty houses in Kitimat this year, we collected 7,074 lbs of food, which is still a fantastic result,” said one of the organizers, Leisl Kaberry.

She thanked the nearly hundred volunteers who gave their time to delivery empty packets and picked up the groceries.

“I would like to thank all our volunteers, big and small. An event like this takes many hands to organize,” added Kaberry.

She also extended thanks to the Food Drive sponsors – Kitimat LNG, Pyramid Office Supplies and Save On Foods.

“A special thanks goes also to everyone who donated food, and to the hard-working staff at the Food Bank who had quite the job to do, sorting over 7,000lbs of food.”
