The forest fire at Eleven Mile Creek is currently being held at 45 hectares.
The fire was discovered on June 20, about halfway between Hope and Sunshine Valley off Highway 3.
The area is a hiking and all-terrain vehicle destination. The fire had initially moved quickly, and a team of more than 50 firefighters, along with four helicopters and one water tender were assigned to the scene.
Fire restrictions across B.C. took effect on Wednesday, June 30, at noon, and include campfires but also Category 2 and Category 3 open fires. The use of fireworks, sky lanterns and chimneys and tiki torches are also prohibited.
Anyone found in violation of the ban can be fined $1,150 or face up to one year in jail and be ordered to pay firefighting costs if the fire sparks a wildfire.
