A former North Okanagan gymnastics coach facing a charge of possession of obscene material for the purpose of circulation will have to wait a little longer for disposition.
Chad Andrew McDowell sat quietly in the front row of the Vernon Law Courts courtroom 201 public gallery Monday, Jan. 14 as defence lawyer Julian van der Walle told Judge Richard Hewson that his and Crown prosecutor Juan O’Quinn’s joint submission had hit a roadblock.
Originally facing charges of possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography and importing or distributing child pornography, van der Walle said he and O’Quinn had found a resolution that would see the current charge of possession of obscene material for the purpose of circulation.

However, van der Walle said that the new charge may inhibit one or more of the proposed conditions and asked for further time to rewrite the joint submission.
McDowell will be in Vernon Law Courts Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 9:30 a.m. to fix a date for the continuation of his disposition hearing.
