The Williams Lake RCMP have reopened Highway 97 North following a three- vehicle accident Thursday morning.
According to the RCMP, the driver of the northbound vehicle was distracted as he spilled his coffee.
He then veered over the centre line and struck two southbound vehicles near the Airport Road turnoff.
Four occupants from the three vehicles were taken to Cariboo Memorial Hospital via EHS where they were treated and later released for assorted minor injuries, police say.
“Considering the extensive damage to the vehicles, investigators believe all occupants were very fortunate to escape without more significant injuries,” says Staff Sgt. Warren Brown of the Williams Lake RCMP in a news release.
The driver of the northhbound vehcile was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care.
Highway 97 was closed following the collision, as there was a propane gas leak from one of the vehicles.
The highway is now open.
