Frank Hobbs elementary school’s proposed new playground project is among the finalists to win the 2017 Aviva Community Fund contest.
The project is called Together in Harmony, and if the school wins, its new playground would include an outdoor classroom and an acoustic chime pathway connecting the new play structure with the woods.
Shortlisted nominees were announced Nov. 1 based on online voting from Oct. 10 to 19. A panel of judges will choose the winners, to be announced Dec. 5.
“Just got to keep our fingers and toes crossed for the next 33 days,” said Andrea Frost from the Frank Hobbs’ parent advisory committee, which organized the project.

The Frank Hobbs PAC started fundraising for a replacement playground in 2014. With the Aviva contest, they seek an additional $62,000 to cover the shortfall that would add a sensory pathway, outdoor classroom, an interactive art feature (hopefully First Nations) and other accessories.
