Hell’s Gate Airtram is now under new ownership.
Coquitlam businessman Junping Yang purchased the attraction from local shareholders on Sept. 2.
“The principle shareholders are retiring. They’re moving on and slowing down in life,” said Debbie McKinney, with corporate relations, adding that succession planning began earlier this year. “They thought it may take two or three years to find the right buyer because it’s a very unique business. It went faster than any of us would have expected.”
The business will continue to operate as normal with all management and staff remaining on. However, McKinney is looking forward to the fresh ideas and changes that new ownership could bring.
“They really enjoy the outdoors. They’re young and they’re excited,” said McKinney. “It sounds like they’re going to be involved and they want to get to know the business. Hopefully they’ll be more hands-on as we move forward here and as they learn things.”
