Now that the Fraser Health region has hit the 80 per cent mark for first COVID-19 doses, the health authority is moving to new vaccination model.

They will now have “vaccine hubs” for those who still want to be immunized. The new models began on July 29.

“As new initiatives are underway and vaccine rates increase, it is a natural transition for the provincial immunization program to move to new models as planned,” they announced in a press release. “For Fraser Health, we will transition from our distributed network of immunization clinics into a hub model, utilizing our existing clinics in Abbotsford, Coquitlam, Surrey and North Delta to ensure vaccine remains available in a mass clinics setting as well.”

The mass immunization clinics will be at Abbotsford Ag Rec (both testing and immunizations), the Poirier Forum, Guildford Rec Centre and North Delta Rec Centre.

COVID-19 Immunization will also continue to be available at COVID-19 Testing and Immunization Centres in our region, in Hope, Chilliwack, Mission, Langley, South Delta, South Surrey, Surrey 66, Coquitlam and Burnaby.

Final date of operations for locations throughout the region have also been announced. South Surrey Rec Centre and Chuck Bailey Rec Centre are now closed, as of July 18.

The Abbotsford test collection centre at UFV will close after Aug. 1 and move to the Abbotsford Ag Rec.

The Agassiz Agricultural Hall, Langley Events Centre, Anvil Centre and Christine Sinclair Community Centre close on Aug. 7.

The Hope Legion, Cloverdale Rec Centre, Surrey North and Haney Place Mall close on Aug. 14. The Chilliwack Mall Immunization Clinic closes on Aug. 29.

The Mamele’awt Community Indigenous Centre, Stó:lō Service Agency, Fraser River Indigenous Society, Mission Friendship Centre and Fraser Regional Aboriginal Friendship Centre will be the last to close, on Aug. 30.

Other initiatives, including community and beach pop-up immunizaton clinics will continue. More than two million COVID-19 doses have now been administered in the Fraser Health region. In that region, over 80 per cent of all eligible people have been immunized with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and over 60 per cent of people have now received their second dose.

“As we move into the next phase of our COVID-19 response and immunization efforts, we would like to acknowledge the tremendous contributions of our clinical and non-clinical staff, clinic operators, immunizers, industry partners and communities who have helped us reach this important milestone as we continue to improve vaccine coverage across our region,” Fraser Health said.
