The ongoing pandemic means the Fraser Valley British Motor Club’s Classic Car Show won’t be held in 2020.
The club had been planning to hold the car show on June 13 of this year but unfortunately due to COVID-19 it had to be cancelled, said Bruce Webster, one of the organizers.
Just like last year, the club is still trying to help raise funds to benefit the Chilliwack General Hospital, so the event has been tentatively re-scheduled for June 12, 2021.
The Classic Car Show was held at UFV for the first time in 2019, to allow car enthusiasts and collectors to showcase their plate eligible cars. It was also the first time in 25 years that the FVBMC event doubled as a fundraiser for Chilliwack General Hospital.
They had 170 cars on display on Caen Avenue in 2019. Based on the response after last year they had been expecting 25o to 270 might show up for 2020 before they had to cancel.
So interest is growing in the classic car show that was held at Minter Gardens for many years to show original, classic cars with no hot rods or modifieds allowed.
“We are still hoping our supporters will support the hospital in the interim,” Webster said. The funds going to CGH will be used replace aging equipment and technology.
